The Vertical 2 is essentially a Race 2 in a heavier, more metal, all-button case, and it ends Suunto’s MIP era: the transflective screen and solar ring are gone, replaced by a 1.5-inch, 2,000-nit AMOLED. Battery holds up better than you would expect — 65 hours of dual-band GPS, the same as the MIP Vertical without sun — though 20 days as a smartwatch is ten fewer. It is Suunto’s first watch with a real LED flashlight, with white and red modes, and it adds the Race 2’s upgraded wrist sensor and faster map rendering. Maps are free with 32GB on every model. No offline music or payments, and if you lived on solar top-ups for multi-week trips, the old Titanium Solar still lasts longer.
