The Watch 9 is the Watch 8’s case with new insides: identical dimensions, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite in place of Samsung’s own chip, and a 20% larger cell in the 40mm. Don’t buy it for endurance — Samsung still quotes 40 hours with always-on display off, exactly the Watch 8’s figure, and in testing it lasts about a day. The reason to buy it is software. Vitals tracks five overnight signals against your own baseline and flags shifts, Daily Cardio Load and Fitness Index add real training-load guidance, and US blood pressure now arrives as a morning estimate after a cuff-calibrated night. There is no Classic this year, and most of this software is already in beta for the Watch 8, which now lists for $80 less.
