The HRM 600 is the strap to buy if you already wear a recent Garmin and want more than a heart rate number. It streams heart rate and HRV over ANT+ and Bluetooth, to as many as three Bluetooth devices at once, and feeds running dynamics to compatible watches, including Step Speed Loss on the Forerunner 970. During swims it stores heart rate and hands it to your watch afterwards. It can even record a session by itself, started from the Garmin Connect app, for sports where you cannot wear a watch. Unlike the coin-cell HRM 200 it is rechargeable, lasting about two months at an hour a day, and the module is rated 5ATM. At $169.99 it costs more than twice the HRM 200, and most of the extras only work inside Garmin’s ecosystem.
