The Fenix 8 Pro is the Fenix 8 with a radio stack bolted on: an LTE modem plus an inReach satellite transceiver, giving two-way messaging, location check-ins, and interactive SOS with no phone anywhere near you. That is the whole pitch, and for anyone who spends real time out of coverage it is a genuinely different proposition from every other watch here. Everything from the Fenix 8 carries over — ECG, skin temperature, a 40m dive computer, flashlight, speaker and mic, topo maps, Training Readiness. Fifteen days and 44 hours of GPS on the 47mm. Garmin’s training metrics stay subscription-free, but the satellite and LTE features need a paid inReach plan, so the sticker price is not the whole cost.
