The Cheetah 2 Ultra takes the Cheetah 2 Pro into the mountains. Titanium now covers the bezel, frame, buttons, and caseback, and a slimmer bezel fits a 1.5-inch display into a case that is actually a hair smaller than the Pro’s. A 780mAh cell is rated for 30 days typical, 60 hours in the most accurate dual-band GPS mode, or 33 hours of trail running with the screen always on and maps up. Storage doubles to 64GB for full-colour contour maps, and a trail mode weighs effort by gradient, terrain, and vertical gain. It passes MIL-STD-810G testing and keeps the Pro’s flashlight, calls, and HybridCharge, and independent testing scored its GPS well ahead of the Pro’s. The odd omission on a $600 mountain watch is water resistance: 5ATM, with no dive or freediving modes.
