Understanding Maximum Heart Rate
Maximum heart rate (MHR) is the highest heart rate an individual can safely achieve through exercise. It's a key metric for setting training zones and monitoring exercise intensity.
Formulas Used
Newer formulas (Tanaka, Gellish) are generally more accurate than the classic 220-age formula, particularly for adults over 40. The Gulati formula was developed specifically for women and may provide better estimates for female exercisers.

These formulas provide estimates only. Your true maximum heart rate can vary by 10-20 bpm. Consult a healthcare provider before starting high-intensity exercise, especially if you have cardiovascular conditions or are over 40 and new to vigorous exercise.
